The USS Valiant was a vessel that entered into the lore of other Star Trek media, like games and books, but technically did feature on screen in some manner, suggesting that it could be a canon starship at some point. This was as the Systems Display for the USS Defiant in Deep Space Nine and although we never saw the actual ship on screens, it seems it was indeed a contender for the spot as Starfleet's premier tactical escort warship.
