The Fates of Captain Sisko

Star Trek Deep Space Nine features and ending which sees Captain Sisko return to the Celestial Temple after confronting the Pah Wraiths in the Fire Caves of Bajor. Joining the Prophets in their realm beyond time, he promises Kasidy that he would return, a promise born of love. Starfleet Academy establishes through the writings and speeches of his son in 2408, that Benjamin Sisko may have never returned (at least so far), but does that remove all room for interpretation?
