The Vesper Class was a constitution class starship variant to begin with created by a Starfleet looking to recapture that older vessel's style for a new era. However, with the Ambassador class rising and the unrelenting Excelsior class behind it, the Vesper fell into a bit of a lost black hole as the Federation moved on.
